Jostedal Glacier

From the innermost part of the Jostedal valley, about an hour's drive from Solvorn, you can get a good view of the biggest glacier in mainland Europe. About 600 metres at its thickest, with an area of about 487 square kilometres, it spreads across almost half of the national park. There is also a glacier centre here, offering a range of activities for all ages. This is the place to go if you want to try glacier walking.

Tungestølen - Austerdalsbreen

"The finest ice scenery in Europe,"said the English mountain lover William Cecil Slingsby about the Loke, Odin and Tors Glaciers, all three of which are tongues of the mighty Jostedalsbreen at Austerdalsbreen. You can get a taste of the wild glacial landscape without necessarily walking on the glacier itself.

The Lusterfjord is the innermost arm of the Sognefjord, and the finest, naturally! You can choose to see it from land or water. Spend the day in the saddle of a bicycle, or hire a kayak or canoe and go looking for the varied fauna. You could also enjoy the whole thing without breaking sweat at all on a boat trip.
